Relay for life is this Saturday and I want to do my part and help raise money, so, I joined the Kerrvivors Relay for Life team. The purpose of Relay For Life does mean a lot to me. Although I don't talk about it much because it happened when I was younger my mother and my grandmother both went through treatments to fight their ovarian cancer. The money raised by the American Cancer Society during Relay for Life will help fund cancer research and possible one day help to find a cure or cause.
I would like to ask the people that read my blog to help the Kerrvivors team by donating to Relay for Life on my team webpage, you can access the page and donate by credit card by clicking on DONATE
You don't have to give a lot you can give $5.00 or $5,000 (everyone has a credit card with atleast $5.00); remember that every dollar counts.

Accepted, But....
I was officially accepted into the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies today. I am pretty excited; I can not wait until I begin working on papers and doing assignments that I have to stay up until 4:00am to complete. I was accepted, but, I still need to take the GRE on April 29th to apply for the Masters of Public Administration program (and if you have read my earlier post you know how excited I am about taking the GRE).

Crossroads

Work has me exshausted. I am tired of putting in the hours at both jobs. I want to reach that point in my life that older people always talk about, the point in which you are satisfied, comfortable with the pay, and like going to work. Well, that all might take some work but I am ready to put in the work. At least at this point I could find the organization that I would like to work for. My career horizons are changing as I get older and although my goals have stayed the same (helping the disadvantaged, working in a non-profit setting, and possibly one day leading others to do the same) I don't know what it is I actually can see my self specializing in. I want to find the answers to what am I meant to do with my knowledge and "wisdom" soon. I would like someone to make my life less like a mixmaster (if you don't know what that means go to www.dallasnews.com), and just guide me in the direction I want.
Sometimes I see myself at Target cashiering and I think about the fulfilling and "thats what I always wanted to do" jobs that other people are finding. I know that I need to start/complete graduate school because the opportunities of advancement for a bachelor's candidate in the world of today's non-profit and city government is limited.
So, today I made the decision that a part-time position that pertains to the field of social work is pertinent to help me reach my career goals. Even if that means needing to let go of Target (which we all know I love).

Jump On The Bus
I am trying to study for the GRE and I can’t muster the will power to actually go through the math section of the practice book. I took the practice test and it turned out terrible. I got 2 out of 10 questions right. The test said it was “elementary” math; let me just say, NO WAY IN THIS LIFE. (If you can’t tell I wanted to type something different). What is the purpose of a university still backing the GRE. If someone has already completed their undergraduate degree why not let them be considered acceptable to complete graduate work? Furthermore; In my case I am applying to graduate school at North Texas were in fact I got my bachelor’s; so, why are they discrediting their own institution by asking me to take a test to see what I learned at UNT. They already awarded me a degree and a 3.4 GPA? Why give someone a grade on their test first and the test second. The whole system is backwards. It seems to me that if anything the GRE should be mandatory to graduate from undergraduate school.
One last note, I downloaded applications for the University of Michigan, Columbia University, and Rutgers University and none of them require the GRE. I love UNT but they do not have the same reputation as the aforementioned institutions and if they are happy with my undergraduate degree then UNT needs to get on the bus.

Sex and Politics
It is getting ridiculous in New York, all the personal issues that are entering the political arena. I am more than happy that Gov. Spitzer has decided to resign due to the implications of how effective he could actually be on cleaning up the state . His history of trying to get rid of bad politics and unethical business practices of wall street have been thrown out the door just as fast as he threw the prostitute out the door when his time was up. The only reason I was slightly compelled by this story was that the FBI was actually recording his interactions with the escort service and he had no way of squelling his way out of the situation. Other than that I really don’t care about the sexual life of politicians. It seems to me that politicians who have good sex lives end up being some of the best (Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Bill Clinton, etc.). The only sad thing is they weren’t having these great sex lives with their wives.
Well, maybe sex and politics do mix?

Often Not Remembered
St. Patrick's Day the day that is often not remembered. Mostly for the drunken people tracing around the city pretending that they had a hope in the world. But, what is really important is the countless hours that is spent by many brewers to supply these large quantities of beer. Did you know that on St. Patrick's Day more than 1/4 of american citizens who are of the age to drink, will drink. To learn more about St. Patrick's Day and the festivities visit, http://www.chaliceuu.org/sermons/Archive/stpat.htm.
The Beginning
I decided to start this blog tonight out of frustration that I was working way to much with litttle to show for it. So, because it was extremely late I had nobody to call. Today I will begin a new. I am determined to find ways to make money, complete my education, lose weight, and at the same time discuss it with everyone else.
This blog is going to focus on things I find interesting in the news, celebrities, people, my weight lost, my money rendezvous, and various things that I care about through out the day.
Hold on for the ride!
