Flopping outside of the bowl

First thing that I need to say about DC is that it is so much more than the statesmanly images that you see on TV and newspapers. This is my first time living in a city outside of Texas for so long, thankfully it seems like it will be a good experience. So, I have compiled my first few thoughts about DC (this is just what I have realized after two days, things might change):

1. People walking the streets believe that they are cars, correct that; people walking the streets believe they are better than cars. Everyone is so bold about walking in the street when a car is coming; but the sad part is that nobody mines because the entire city has excepted this alternate reality in which you don't pay attention to traffic, you just do you. And to tell the truth I am not sure if that is a bad thing. Just imagine a place where you don't wait for red lights, you drive in the bike lanes, you go whatever speed you want, and you can make stops in the middle of the street! It sounds like Eutopia!

2. There is so much to do! So many small shops that have all the eccentric things that make up a great day of shopping for frivolous things. And probably the best part about shopping in DC is that there is NO Walmart, atleast our nation's capital has it right.

3. The monuments, capital buildings, and churches really are beautiful.

4. Public transportation is awesome, Texas is definitely missing out. So far, I have tried the trains in Atlanta, San Diego, and now DC and I have yet to find an overwhelming downside.

Below are a few pictures of my new basement apartment. My apartment owner is very nice, she has provided me with so much including, dishes, towels, furniture, EVERYTHING!
